Blogging Disruptive Media

Stockholm, May 08

I just heard that I’ve been granted one of ten blogger passes for this years Disruptive Media Conference in Stockholm on May 8. Yay!

This is a fabulous opportunity to hear some of the leading voices in online marketing and PR. I’m particularly looking forward to hear Steve Rubel’s keynote.

Conferences like this are incredibly important as they help put new tools on the workbench that is Social Media.

Although discussion is great online, nothing beats actually talking about things face to face. What’s more, it is particularly important to for those of us in Sweden trying to promote Social Media to dialogue with those involved in international markets like the US and UK.

Twitter Helped Me Get My Blog Pass

As an aside to my celebrations, here’s a tale of social media.

If I hadn’t been following Annika Lidne on Twitter I wouldn’t have know I could apply for a pass.

I just happened to glance up at TweetDeck in between scribbling some copy to see that Annika had tweeted that there was one day to the deadline for applications. So I promptly bashed out an email outlining my reasons for wanting to attend.

Now if you’re a small business or freelancer looking to grow your network and that doesn’t get you exploring Twitter, I don’t know what will!
