Creating Cool Content

Don’t just limit your business blogging to words on a page. You need to deliver cool content to your audience consistently over time. That increasingly means embracing a variety of ways of communicating through your blog.

This post highlights something I did for a corporate client blog: I think it’s a prime example of how you can generate interest in your organisation or company by getting your hands dirty, wandering around with a video camera, and just talking to people.

Now I’m not a professional video editor – that much is obvious ! – but as a blogger and communicator I’m prepared to give it a go. This is the fourth or fifth video I’ve done now and I’d like to think that by sharing it with you, I’m encouraging you to give it a go too for your business.

Why? Well, because the last video we did like this has now picked up well over a thousand views, largely because it was clearly visible on the front page of the client’s website. It took three months to get the first 200 views and the next 1000 took just over three weeks.

Let’s see if we can generate the same kind of viewing figures with this video in much less the time than before now I’ve learnt that prime positioning on a blog that’s updated five days a week and receives traffic from Twitter and Facebook on a daily basis is a massive factor in getting lots of views.

Of course, we’re promoting the video across all the social media channels the client belongs to.

Go on! Why not have a go making a video this week for your blog! If you do, let me know and I’ll mention it here on JonBuscall.com. Now there’s a challenge.
