Explaining Google Wave

I‘m still waiting on an invite for Google Wave but as each day passes I get the feeling that the Wave could really change the way we communicate online.

Since watching the launch video I’ve been telling folks at conferences that it’s all very well to get on Facebook, Twitter, FriendFeed, etc, but that Google Wave could change a lot of things. Social Media is changing the way we communicate but we’re not tied to the tools. Tools change. And Google Wave will change things, I am sure.

Here’s a brilliant explanation of what Google Wave does by the folks at Epipheo Studios if you haven’t heard of it or quite got your head around it yet.

I totally AGREE! I watched the entire developer preview and I was completely amazed with the application. The entire time I was watching I just couldn’t stop thinking about all the ways Google Wave WILL completely revelutionize the way we communciate today in all aspsect of our lives – friends, family, work, etc. I immediately thought of the current social networking sites and collaboration tools and how archiac they will seem with a tool as powerful as Google Wave sems to be and how powerful I could see it becoming.

I signed up for the invite list too – I’m really excited about seeing Google Wave in action!

I got my account a couple of weeks ago. I can see that Wave has huge potential but there are so few people on it at the moment that it’s hard to get going and use all it’s collaborative features. The most thrilling aspect of it is the way you can review how a Wave was put together so you can see the thinking develop within a team.

It’s also got a clean interface and seems quite easy to use. I think once more people are on Wave it will really kick off.
