21 Lessons We Need To Learn

Angela Schaefers

Guest post by Angela Schaefers, inspirational Speaker, Writer & Talk Show Host

1) Learn how to live authentically
Live your life in a way that is the real you, say what you mean and mean what you say

2) Learn the art of effective communication
Communicate openly, honestly and directly by using specifics

3) Learn to be sincere
A compliment or constructive criticism is best received when done so with consideration and honesty

4) Learn how to take the high road… despite others actions
Be kind and respectful, lashing out or getting even will not make you feel better in the long run or resolve the conflict

5) Learn how to accept others opinions, even when you disagree
It is okay to agree to disagree, you can accept others point of view and it does not mean you feel the same

6) Learn to discern when things or people should be limited in your life
Sometimes too much of certain people or things keeps us from improving, it is okay when things or people are only temporary

7) Learn how to find support from others
Those we share common interests with and who share similar beliefs often tend to be the most supportive and help us to grow

8) Learn how to not judge others; we never really know the whole story
Everyone has flaws and a past, so do we

9) Learn to be kind
Being kind always feels good and even better when it is undeserving and better still when it can soften someone’s attitude

10) Learn to give and receive
Sometimes we miss opportunities because we are not open to receiving what others try to give us or we are not as giving as we could be towards them

11) Learn to keep your mind open to exploring the world and people around you
Opportunities to learn are limitless, when we seek out information and are open to growing from that learning, amazing change can happen

12) Learn to think things through before making choices that will ultimately affect your future
Our decisions can often have a large impact on our lives and sometimes not the impact we desire

13) Learn to think before you speak or act
If what you are doing or saying is not something you yourself would like to experience, it is better left unsaid or undone

14) Learn to consider why you are doing what you are doing
Pause often enough to reevaluate, are your actions working for you to achieve success and getting you closer to your goal?

15) Learn to know when to give in or give up
Perseverance is often the key to success, however there are occasions when having tried and experimented again and again things still will not work out as hoped for and it is okay to move on

16) Learn how to listen to others
Listening is only useful when you can truly understand what others are trying to communicate to you

17) Learn how to change your perspective, especially when things seem hopeless
You can choose to see the possibilities from challenges, and often you can see the positive rather then a negative when you look for it

18) Learn how to laugh about all the things that you cannot change
The power to change and control people and things is fruitless, laugh about those things that you have no power over and could be counted as funny when you look back at them

19) Learn that you can always improve
The way you judge and critique your own self is often worse then what others think and you can always change for the better

20) Learn to be direct and friendly in your communication
Expecting things from others when you have not communicated your wants and needs will leave you frustrated, speak your wants and needs pointedly

21) Learn to not assume what others feel or think
Do not try to second guess others actions or their words, when they are not clear, ask and ask again if needed

Angela believes that your story is valuable and should be told. Telling your story can be accomplished through art, music, video or in book format.
