The 4 Things Your Competitors Know About Starting the Week that You Don’t

Monday morning is often one of my favorite times of the week. It’s a clean page. A chance to start all over again and improve things for the coming week whether it’s keeping my desk tidy or sorting my receipts.

Monday morning is also a great time to get ahead with maintaining the success of your digital marketing and communications.

If you’re still struggling to get your digital marketing and communications into gear, Monday morning is a great time to take action:

Schedule Tweets

95 percent of the time I tweet live; however, there are certain kinds of tweets that I put out that can be scheduled. For example, RTs of key posts I’ve gathered over the weekend, tweets to my landing pages or RTs of older much older posts that I think might be of interest. Since I started scheduling 2 Tweets a day the traffic to my website has doubled.

Check Your Site Analytics

I don’t think you should be obsessed by your web traffic, but Monday morning is a good time to check how you did the previous week. Are you key landing pages performing? Is traffic from you keywords up or down ? Are there any new keywords emerging that are worth optimizing your content for ?

Your data is priceless because it gives you leverage to develop and fine tune your online marketing strategy. Monday morning is a great time to get ahead.

Plan Your Content

Your business blog is still your best friend, despite the hype around social media. Google still prioritizes blog posts over tweets and you’re definitely more likely to be found in Google in a year’s time for a blog post than a tweet. What’s more, your blog is a great place to demonstrate your skills, show who you are (with a mix of content), and provide your customers and prospects with genuinely useful information.

Your blog is also home to your About Page and posts that bring in traffic will also send traffic to your About Page! Go on, check your data. It’s probably one of your most trafficked sites and should definitely be optimized to generate more leads.

So plan your blog content for the week. Update your editorial calendar, note the titles of the posts you plan to write and when you expect to publish.

Decide What to Do

Finally, the key to making sure your Monday morning marketing initiative succeeds is to plan exactly when you’re going to write your weekly content, the blocks you’ll be on Twitter, and so on.

As business owners or employees in a small business, we’re always working, always looking to take things to the next level. That’s why it’s essential to have clearly established routines to ensure all your bases are covered. It’s so easy to let blog content slide, your presence on Twitter to be sporadic, etc. By planning effectively and carrying out your plans, you’ll be on top of your game in no time.

My favorite app for scheduling what to do and when to do it is Wunderlist, which syncs on my Macs, iPhone and iPad. Perfect for keeping me up to date with what to do and when to do it.

What about you ?

What do you do on Monday mornings to ensure your digital marketing is a success?

My first job on Monday morning is to set up some tweets for the week.  There is so much fantastic info out there and I want to share it all but we are all on overload so I try to spread out over the week the choicest tidbits that I think will help my clients the most.  J

I have to say one thing…exercise! Make Monday mornings your time to hit the gym, go for a brisk walk or jump on the trampoline…everyone else is making a slow start to the week, so ensure you take advantage of that! It will energize you for the entire day, start your week off smiling, and your heart will thank you.

My goal on Mondays 3 part – 1st is to read blogs, 2nd is to comment on 10 blogs that really interest me. In my comments my intention is to really add value in my comments. 3rd is to make sure to include the links to those blogs in my tweets or to retweets.
