My translation of Pål H. Christiansen’s novel “Drømmer om storhet”, “The Scoundrel Days of Hobo Highbrow”, is now available for pre-order (180 NOK plus shipping if you order in August, 230 NOK thereafter).
If you’re one of the lucky ones, Pål will even sign a copy of the book for you.
Even if you aren’t a massive a-ha fan, the novel is worth checking out because it’s just as much about the highs and lows of being a struggling writer as a homage to Paul Waaktaar-Savoy. Hell, I even recognised myself in one of Hobo’s poems.
On a related note, I discovered today that a novel manuscript I’ve written managed to get deleted from my computer. Then when I went to reinstall my back-up copy I discovered to my horror that the CD had corrupted. This is a truly Hobo Highbrow moment, although I don’t have any coffee liqueur to hand.
Thankfully I have a paper copy of the MSS but, boy, what a hassle to re-type a novel.
