5 Ways for a B2B to Succeed with Social Media

Buffer

Every B2B worth its salt seems to be getting into social media at the moment. But how can you ensure that your company stands out?

Be Real

Don’t hide anonymously behind a logo. Dare to put your best communicator(s) on Twitter and Facebook and let their personalities shine. If/When they move onto another job celebrate the value they brought whilst they were with you. And encourage the new hire to show who they really are.

Be Proactive

Start conversations. Make connections. Approach other tweeps, “friend” people on Facebook, start a LinkedIn group. Don’t just be a B2B that reacts to what others are doing.

Be Entertaining

Vary the content you put out there. Don’t fall into the trap of hiding behind dull corporate speak. Business blog with personality and a unique voice; make your YouTube videos swing; create outstanding ebooks, slideshows, etc.

Be Committed

Stick with your social media campaign. Remember it’s a commitment not a campaign. There’s nothing worse that a prospect or stakeholder discovering you are on Twitter and then finding that your last tweet was three months ago. It’s the equivalent of showing that you just don’t care – or even get it.

Be There!

Ultimately, you need to be utterly ubiquitous online; you need to be everywhere you customers and potential customers could be. Create and maintain your presence online in social media channels.

Eventually, if you keep it real, are positive in your approach, vary the content you put out there and really stick with things you’ll get there in the end.
